Escape & enjoy a wonderful sailing experience on a Winds of Ireland sailboat. Pack a picnic, or order one ahead, if you like, and enjoy the day or afternoon with friends or family. Make an ordinary day a special occasion, celebrate an anniversary or birthday or perhaps even start a tradition.

     Spend the day sailing one the countries most beautiful, deep, freshwater lakes. There are great places to anchor and swim, fish or picnic. Lake charts are supplied on each boat. Our fleet consists of seven sleek, modern sailing sloops designed for comfort, performance and handling ease. All boats are fully equipped with USCG approved safety gear. All boats have full battened mainsails, roller furling headsails and wheel steering. All boats are equipped with inboard diesel engines. Each galley is fully outfitted and equipped. Boats are supplied with paper towels, garbage bags, and cleaning supplies.

     Winds of Ireland's sailboats are open for rental as available. You may rent by the day for 1/2 day. A day equals 8 hours and 1/2 day equals 4 hours. As in our charter schedule, the skipper is responsible for a damage deposit which will be returned after the boat is returned and inspected to be free from damage, usually within a few days. Prices for 1/2 day and day rentals may be found on the rate schedule.

     Skippers must complete the sailing resume form and it must approved by the base manager prior to rental. Sailors must have experience commensurate with the vessel that they would like to rent. We welcome sailing resumes at any time and will maintain them on file to make rental approval as quick and easy as possible.

     Rental reservations may be made up to two weeks in advance.  Sailboats are available for bareboat charter, and private custom charters are available and do prevail.   Separate pricing is available.

     For all boating activities, soft-soled shoes, sunscreen & sun-glasses are recommended.  For evening cruised a lightweight jacket is a good idea.

Capacity:

The legal maximum capacity for uninspected boats in rental service is 12 persons (no matter what age), or as the manufacturer states. Winds of Ireland further limits this number by vessel size as follows: Hunter 28: 8 persons, Hunter 30: 8 persons, Catalina 32: 10, Hunter 33.5: 8 persons, Hunter 35.5: 10 persons, Hunter 40.5: 12 persons, Hunter 41: 12 persons. All limits are for day rental only. Overnight charters specifications differ greatly and are determined by the number of berths available.

Cancellation Policy for Sail Boat Rentals:

Once your reservation is made it's considered steadfast unless the following conditions are present: rain falling from the sky, winds over 25 knots, no wind. It is possible for you to rent under these conditions at the Manager's discretion, but while some sailors become very excited by weather conditions like these, others do not and it's our intention that all guests enjoy themselves fully, and that the safety of the vessel and customers come first and foremost.

The State of Vermont requires anyone born after January 1, 1974 to have a certificate of boating education and be 16 or over to operate any watercraft.   Identification and security deposit required.  VT Sales Tax applies.
