Quiet coves, quaint harbor towns, spectacular sunrises over the Green Mountains of Vermont, rivaled only by sensational sunsets over the Adirondack Mountains of New York, await the cruising sailor to Lake Champlain.

Over 120 miles long, 12 miles wide and remarkably uncrowded, Lake Champlain offers sailors easy navigating sailing in deep, tide and reef free fresh water. In addition to great sailing, you'll find something for everyone in your group from exploring uninhabited islands, fishing and swimming to wonderful waterfront dining and shoreside shopping.

Whether you're looking to sunbathe on a sand beach, sail a 'screamer' reach for miles or skip stones, a Lake Champlain sailing vacation presents all this to you.

Come and see for yourself!

Flag Making A Reservation

Call us! We'll let you know which boats and dates are available to fit your schedule. We’ll "pencil -in" your charter and send you a contract outlining your responsibilities and a sailing resume form that will outline to us your experience and that of your crew. We consider your charter confirmed as soon as we’ve received your deposit, completed contract and resume. Payments are as follows; 25% or $300 (whichever is greater) is due as a deposit, the full balance is due sixty or more days prior to sailing. Charters of less than four days and nights are not accepted prior to April 15 of each season, to allow us to book our short season as fully as possible.

Flag Departure And Return

You will find "boarding & disembarking" times indicated on your charter contract. Occasionally, we are able to be more flexible with our scheduling, if your travel plans require, let us know at the time of booking and we’ll do our best to accommodate you. Regarding return, the Charterer is responsible for allowing sufficient time for unforeseen contingencies to permit his timely return and disembarking by the time indicated on the contract.

Flag Charter Check-Out

Once you've arrived and settled in to your boat, one of our super staff members will review all of the boats' systems, contents and operations with you. In planning an itinerary you will need to allow 1-2 hours for your orientation., if you are unfamiliar with the boat you are chartering. If you like, we will also review the nautical charts with you to touch on some of the Lake's highlights and make a few suggestions to help you plan your itinerary. If you are boarding in the evening and daylight allows we will attempt to check you out so that you may leave the dock the same evening that you board, more frequently however, your check out will take place the morning following your boarding. Burlington offers some great dining and most often our guests will load their gear, head out for dinner and plan on checking out in the morning.

Flag Captained Cruise Or Bareboat?

To relinquish responsibility and relax while someone else handles the boat or to take charge yourself, some things to consider; are you competent in exercising the principles of sailing and power boating; is the boat you are considering within your experience and capabilities of handling; do you have knowledge of the waters you will be sailing or similar experience from which a comparison can be drawn, do you want the challenge? Many of our clients who are a little hesitant have, on fuller evaluation, quite adequate ability and experience. Others are happy to have one of our captains aboard and participate in the sailing activities, but not share responsibility. Confidence and familiarization may also be gained by a few hours or perhaps a day or two with one of our captains as part of a longer charter.

Flag Signing On A Captain

If you would like to have the fun of sailing, but not all of the responsibility, we can arrange for a U.S.C.G. licensed Captain to be a sailing guide for you. The guide will do as much or as little as you want. He/she will help you sail, navigate, dock, anchor and plan the best course, taking into consideration wind and weather forecasts. He/she will not be expected to provision, cook or clean-up. All of our boats are available with a sailing guide, paid for on a daily basis plus his/her meals.
